Official Tournament Rulebook
Presented by the Shuttle Rockers Badminton Committee
Team & Match Structure
Team Composition
Each team must consist of exactly 5 players.
All players must participate in exactly 2 matches per Tie.
Match Format
Each Tie consists of 5 doubles matches.
No pair may be repeated within the same Tie.
Teams compete in a round robin group stage, followed by knockout rounds.
Definition of a Tie
A Tie refers to the full set of 5 matches played between two teams.
Scoring & Victory Conditions
Group Stage Scoring
Each game is played to 21 points, with no deuce.
If the score reaches 20–20, the next point wins (21–20).
The team that wins 3 or more matches wins the Tie.
Knockout Stage Scoring
Standard badminton scoring applies.
At 20–20, a team must win by 2 points.
Whoever reaches 30 points first wins the game.
Standings Points
Each game winner will be awarded two points.
Standings are determined by total points accumulated across all group stage games.
Qualification for Semi Finals
The top two teams from each group advance.
Tiebreakers (in order)
1.Head to Head Result — for 3-way ties, a mini table is created among tied teams.
2.Net Point Difference — (Total Points Scored) − (Total Points Conceded)
3.Playoff Match — a one-match playoff ("Playoff A") played to 21 points with no deuce. First to 21 wins.
Player Lineup & Rotation Rules
Unique Pairings
A pair may not be repeated within the same Tie.
Players may play two matches, but with different partners.
Lineup Reveal Protocol
The lineup for each match must be provided to the Umpire within 2 minutes after the completion of the previous game.
The Umpire is responsible for this activity.
Penalties & Forfeitures
Late Arrival
Illegal Pairing
Automatic loss of that match.
10 point deduction from total points tally.
Opponent receives a 10 point bonus.
Player Shortage
Opposing team is awarded 4 match points (equivalent to winning 4 matches).
Conduct & Discipline
Umpire's decision is final.
Unavailability & Injuries
1.The Committee provides two substitute options from the waiting list in the enrolled order.
2.The affected Captain may nominate one option and must consult all Captains. The decision will be finalised by a majority vote of all Captains, with primary weighting given to the Captains from the group to which the affected team belongs.
3.If no consensus is reached within the Committee-provided time window, the Committee assigns a substitute via a Wheel of Fortune draw.
4.If a player withdraws last minute and no substitute is available, the team must play with four players, ensuring no player exceeds two matches.
On Court Rules
Breaks
Breaks allowed only at the 11 point interval during court change.
Additional breaks allowed only for:
Injury
Equipment malfunction
Standard badminton regulations

SRPL is built on competitive spirit, fairness, and genuine camaraderie. All teams are expected to uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship at all times. Any form of abuse towards Players, Umpires, Volunteers, or Organisers is strictly unacceptable.
